This cookbook is organized in a linear, progressive way allowing it to be read from start to finish, as well as to be used as a useful resource for specific tasks. The HTML5 examples and recipes will have you making dynamic, interactive, and animated charts and graphs in no time. You don't need to have a background in HTML5 or Canvas but you do need to have a basic understanding of how HTML works and know how to code in any language (preferably in JavaScript). In this book we will not explain how to learn to code but how to create projects and how to plan and execute them in the process.

A practical tutorial covering how to leverage RStudio functionality to effectively perform R Development, analysis, and reporting with RStudio. The book is aimed at R developers and analysts who wish to do R statistical development while taking advantage of RStudio functionality to ease their development efforts. Familiarity with R is assumed. Those who want to get started with R development using RStudio will also find the book useful. Even if you already use R but want to create reproducible statistical analysis projects or extend R with self-written packages, this book shows how to quickly

Art, or Science? Which of these is the right way to think of the field of visualization? This is not an easy question to answer, even for those who have many years experience in making graphical depictions of data with a view to help people understand it and take action. In this book, Graham Wills bridges the gap between the art and the science of visually representing statistical data. He does not simply give rules and advice, but bases these on general principles and provides a clear path between them. This book is concerned with the graphical representation of time data and is written to cover a range of different users. A visualization expert designing tools for displaying time will find it valuable, but so also should a financier assembling a report in a spreadsheet, or a medical researcher trying to display gene sequences using a commercial statistical package.

The data deluge problem is increasing. Every day the results of scientific experiments, monitoring instruments, medical analysis, and social networks add petabytes to the world’s information. Many future experiments will generate data that will be substantially more than has been collected throughout history. How can we effectively translate this into meaningful information, particularly if there is a time critical element to the data? Although Moore’s law results in an ever-decreasing cost of processing, storage, and transmission – so that the data can be stored and transmitted – it does not necessarily follow that the data can be processed effectively. Visual analytics seeks to facilitate analytical reasoning supported by interactive visual interfaces in order to integrate the human into the analysis process. Expanding the Frontiers of Visual Analytics and Visualization contains international contributions by leading researchers from within the field. Dedicated to the memory of Jim Thomas, the book begins with the dynamics of evolving a vision based on some of the principles that Jim and colleagues established and in which Jim’s leadership was evident. This is followed by chapters in the areas of visual analytics, visualization, interaction, modelling, architecture, and virtual reality, before concluding with the key area of technology transfer to industry. Visual analytics and visualization bring together the areas of computer science, information visualization, cognitive and perceptual sciences, interactive design, graphic design, and social sciences.
